Support for LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy for Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer Individuals in Denver, CO, Las Vegas, NV and Portsmouth, New Hampshire-Virtual across CO, NH & NV:

I provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for individuals seeking a space where they don’t have to translate, defend, or minimize their identity. My work centers on creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where you can explore your identity, heal from minority stress, and strengthen resilience against both internalized and external oppression.

Many LGBTQ+ individuals come to therapy carrying the weight of shame, embarrassment, rejection, or the effects of social stigma. These experiences can show up as anxiety, depression, self-doubt, or a persistent sense of disconnection from yourself and others.

I’ve found therapy to be especially helpful for LGBTQ+ individuals struggling with:

  • Shame or embarrassment about identity or experiences
  • Fear of rejection in relationships, work, or family
  • Anxiety or depression tied to societal stigma
  • Trauma or minority stress
  • Feeling disconnected from oneself or community

Each session is tailored to your needs, helping you process difficult emotions, challenge internalized stigma, and build the confidence to live openly and authentically.

Private pay is available.

Signs You Might Benefit from LGBTQ+ Therapy:

You might not label it this way, but therapy can help if you’re experiencing:

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure about your identity
  • Difficulty with coming out, or navigating being out in different spaces
  • Relationship challenges or trust issues
  • Internalized shame or fear of rejection
  • Family conflict or lack of acceptance
  • Feeling like you have to filter or hide parts of yourself

You don’t need a crisis to start. If something feels off, stuck, or heavy—that’s enough.

How LGBTQ+ Therapy Works:

This is a collaborative process focused on helping you feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with yourself. We work to:

  • Explore identity in a way that feels affirming—not pathologizing
  • Process experiences of rejection, shame, or discrimination
  • Strengthen your sense of self and internal validation
  • Navigate relationships, boundaries, and communication
  • Reduce anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about helping you feel more at home in yourself.

What to Expect in Your First LGBTQ+ Session:

The first session is about getting a feel for each other and creating a space where you can exhale a bit. We’ll:

  • Talk through what’s bringing you in and what you want to shift
  • Go at your pace—no pressure to share anything before you’re ready
  • Explore your identity, relationships, and current stressors (if relevant to you)
  • Start identifying patterns or challenges we can work on together

You don’t need to have everything figured out. Most people don’t—that’s kind of the point.

Living in a world that doesn’t always feel safe or affirming can take a real toll. Many gay, bisexual, trans, and queer individuals carry chronic stress, anxiety, shame, or self-doubt rooted in stigma, discrimination, family rejection, or the pressure to explain or protect who they are. Over time, this can impact mental health, self-worth, and relationships.

Together, we focus on helping you:

  • Reduce anxiety, stress, and emotional burnout
  • Process identity-related trauma or relational wounds
  • Build self-acceptance and confidence
  • Strengthen communication and relationships
  • Cultivate empowerment to live authentically and on your own terms

This is therapy that honors the full complexity of your lived experience—your relationships, your body, your identity, and your values. You deserve support that sees all of you, not just the parts shaped by survival.

This work is grounded in affirmation, honesty, and actually helping you move the needle—not just talk in circles.

Affirmative & Identity-Aware
Your identity isn’t treated as a problem to solve. Therapy is grounded in understanding the real impact of stigma, minority stress, and lived experience—without reducing you to it.

Collaborative & Direct
This is a conversation, not a one-sided analysis. You’ll get space to process, but also clear reflections, patterns pointed out, and practical direction when it’s helpful.

Depth-Oriented, Not Surface-Level
We go beyond coping skills when needed. That means working with:

  • Internalized shame or self-doubt
  • Old relational patterns that still show up
  • The gap between how you present and how you actually feel

Trauma-Informed
For many, identity is shaped alongside experiences of rejection, invisibility, or harm. Therapy creates a space to process that safely—without rushing or overwhelming you.

Flexible & Individualized
There’s no one “LGBTQ experience,” so there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Therapy adapts to you—whether you're exploring identity, navigating relationships, or just trying to feel more like yourself again.

If you’re looking for affirming therapy for LGBTQ+, queer, trans, gay, or bisexual individuals, I invite you to reach out. Healing doesn’t require fixing who you are—it’s about reclaiming who you’ve always been.
